New Express Intercity Link Between Beijing and Bazhou to be Built By 2019

An all-new express intercity HSR link is to be built between Beijing and Bazhou, northern Hebei. The new 93 km (58 mi) route will also form part of the future Beijing-Kowloon HSR, and will connect Beijing West (Beijingxi) Railway Station via the new airport being built in the southern Beijing with Bazhou.

The People’s Railway Daily reports five stations along the new line:

  • BEIJING WEST (BEIJINGXI) 北京西 — change for trains to other destinations; transfer to Subway Lines 7 and 9
  • Liying 李营
  • Beijing New Airport 新机场 — the name of this station is likely to change before the line opens in full
  • Yongqing West (Yongqingxi) 永清西
  • BAZHOU 霸州

The two new stations on this line will be that at the new Beijing Airport, as well as Yongqing West Railway Station. All other stations will see expansions, in particular Liying and Bazhou stations. There will also be connections to other lines, including a link to the Tianjin-Baoding Railway, built as an HSR line, at the Bazhou terminus. As the new Beijing-Bazhou line is part of a future HSR link to Kowloon, design speeds should be sufficiently high.

Works will begin before the end of 2015, and the new line should open by mid-2019. The new line is designed to be ready when the new Beijing Airport in the southernmost reaches of the city itself is ready.
