A new HSR line linking Shangqiu, He’nan, with the two provincial capitals of Anhui and Zhejiang, has, according to domestic media, been approved by the Chinese government’s National Development and Reform Commission. This 798 km (nearly 500 mi) HSR route runs from Shangqiu, He’nan, via Hefei, Anhui, through to Hangzhou, Zhejiang, and has been approved for speeds up to 350 km/h (218 mph). It runs a direction largely towards the southeast, almost like a true diagonal line.

When this line opens, trips will take only 2 hours and 30 minutes across the entire route.
