Extra Night HSR Sleepers to Southern China for Summer 2015

Night Sleepers at Nanjing South

Demand for the “high-speed hotel on wheels” continues to be high, which is why Beijing Rail is adding extra trains to run the overnight service between Beijing West (Beijingxi) and Guangzhou South (Guangzhounan).

The extra southbound train from Beijing will run as Train D925. This train leaves Beijing West at 19:35, bound for Guangzhou South (arrival at 06:59 the next morning). The extra northbound train from Guangzhou will run as Train D926, leaving Guangzhou South at 20:00 and arriving at Beijing West at 06:30 the next morning.

Travel times will also continue to be cut due to further service improvements. Train D923 (from Beijing West to Guangzhou South) will now take only 10 hours and 8 minutes (over a previous 10 hours and 40 minutes). Improvements have been even more visible for Train D928, which will now run the full 2,000+ km journey from Shenzhen North to Beijing West in 11 hours and 23 minutes, instead of the former 12 hours and 40 minutes.

Travelling by overnight HSR is fast, efficient, and saves an extra hotel bill. It also means passengers can get some quality hours of rest onboard, waking up fresh and relaxed the next morning in a completely different city. The journey from Beijing to Guangzhou and Shenzhen, though, involves crossing the Tropic of Cancer, so riders may wish to prepare appropriate clothing before leaving at the final destination.
