Nepal Quake Impacts Xigazê in Tibet; Ticketing and Trains Restricted to Ease Aid Inflow

The Nepal magnitude 8.1 earthquake has impacted the city of Xigazê in Tibet, and this has meant the city is in need of disaster relief.

To aid relief efforts and in the interest of safety to passengers and property, Qinghai-Tibet Rail is restricting ticketing of Train Z8801 from Lhasa to Xigazê to local residents of Tibet only. Trains Z9903 and Z9904 will also not be operating from 29 April 2015 through to 03 May 2015.

Passengers who have booked themselves onto Trains Z8801, Z8802, Z9903 or Z9904 departing before 14 May 2015 may request a refund of their tickets at any railway station offering networked ticketing (which equates to the vast majority of all stations in China) or on the website. No refund fees will be incurred.

The railways will inform separately when ticket sales will recommence.

For information (in Chinese only), telephone Qinghai-Tibet rail on: +86 (0)971 12306.
