IMPORTANT: Exit numbers at this station have changed for the Line 5 part. What used to be Exits A, B, C, and D in the Line 5 part, are now Exits E, F, G, and H, respectively. Exits C1, C2, D1, and D2 in the Line 5 part, are now Exits G1, G2, H1, and H2, respectively.
Xuanwumen Subway Station (地铁宣武门站) is on Beijing Subway Line 2 and Line 5. It is situated by at the crossing of Xuanwumen Inner and Outer Streets, and Xuanwumen West and East Streets in central Beijing.
Arriving by Subway
Doors will open on the left. This station uses split concourses, so choose your exit before leaving via the exit gates.
Escalators leading to ground level are generally available at exits in the Line 5 part of the station. For Exits G and H, which are integrated in an underpass underneath Chongwenmen Outer Street, you will need to use stairs for the short stretch to ground level.
MAJOR LANDMARKS NEARBY
The Ming Tomb Relics Park, not far from the city’s main railway station, is closest to Exit F.
Tongren and Beijing Hospitals are closest to Exit E.
Exits C, G (G1 and G2), and H (H1 and H2) are closest to shopping centres. There is direct underground access to Glory Mall shopping centre closest to Exit G.
Changing Lines at This Station
Line 2 to Line 5: Go downstairs and continue along the interchange passageway to reach the Line 5 concourse. Then head down to the Line 5 platforms.
Line 5 to Line 2: Follow signs to the Line 5 concourse, then make a left and enter the interchange passageway. At the end, turn left, then right, along a flight of stairs to reach the Line 2 platforms.
Leaving by Subway
Security checks are required.
If you wish to add value to your Yikatong public transport smartcard, it’s probably best to use a Line 5 entrance, which generally appear slightly more modern than their Line 2 counterparts.
Platform doors are planned for the Line 2 platforms. Always remain behind the yellow line until your train arrives and has come to a complete stop.
Last Line 2 trains: 22:19 for clockwise trains via Qianmen (23:08 for trains terminating at Xizhimen); 22:33 for counterclockwise trains via Beijing Railway Station (23:18 for trains terminating at Jishuitan).
Last Line 5 trains: 23:22 for northbound trains to Tiantongyuan North; 23:26 for southbound trains to Songjiazhuang.
Please note: We suggest that all passengers always enter stations and be inside the entry gates approximately 10 minutes before the arrival of the last train.
