Due to heavy demand around the Dragon Boat Festival holiday, the Xi’an Metro is likely to be busy, according to that city’s metro operator. To meet demand, there will be more trains running during this peak travel period.

Starting from around 13:00 on Friday, 19 June 2015, more trains will already be running on Xi’an Metro Lines 1 and 2.

  • Line 1: There will be a train every 5 minutes and 30 seconds (this is nearly 11 trains per hour on this line).
  • Line 2: Trains will run every 4 minutes and 44 seconds (this will achieve over 12 trains per hour on this line).

Trains will continue to run in improved frequencies all day from 20 June 2015 through to 22 June 2015:

  • Line 1: There should be a train every 5 minutes and 49 second (making it just over 10 trains per hour on this line).
Line 2: Trains will run every 4 minutes 57 seconds (this is around 12 trains per hour on this line).

The Xi’an Metro expects to carry over 4 million people over the Dragon Boat Festival festive period.
