Beijing New Airport Subway Line: Express Service, Three Stops Only!

The new Beijing Airport in Daxing, southern Beijing, will have not just full links to the national expressway and HSR network, but will also have a very fast Subway connection. This new line will run for 43 km (27 miles), but will only have one station enroute at Cigezhuang.

The entire line will run from the new airport up to Caoqiao, where passengers can connect with Lines 10 and 19 (with the latter also being built). Line 10 is the larger of the two “full” city orbital lines; Line 19 will connect further north to Mudanyuan, in northern urban Beijing.

The new line will mostly run underground — 24.8 km (15½ miles) are underground, with only 18.2 km (nearly 11½ miles) above ground or at-level. Trains will run at 140 km/h (87 mph) — that is 20 km/h (12 mph) faster than the maximum speed permitted on the expressways (120 km/h, 75 mph)!

Passengers will also be able check in their bags directly at the city terminus in Caoqiao. Groundbreaking work on the new line is expected shortly, following environmental impact reviews.
