Shenyang-Dandong HSR Test Runs Begin

Test runs on the Shenyang-Dandong High Speed Railway have gotten underway as of 01 June 2015. The 205.7 km (127.8 mi) new railway line runs from Shenyang South (Shenyangnan) Railway Station to Dandong. North Korea borders the Chinese city of Dandong; the two are separated by the Yalu River.

Intermediate stations on this line include Benxi (New Town area and city centre), Nanfen (North), Tongyubao (West), Fengcheng (East), and Wulongbei (East). Over half of this new line will run either on viaducts or tunnels.

Tests will evaluate all operational aspects including power, signalling, passenger service, natural disaster sensor systems, and trespass detection systems, amongst others.

When opened, this will be the first HSR link to Dandong, the Sino-Korean (north) border city. Travel times to Dandong from Shenyang will be cut from 5 hours and 48 minutes to a mere hour.
