Direct HSR Trains to Link Wuhan and Shenzhen Next Month

Wuhan HSR

In brief:
Direct high speed trains will link Wuhan with Shenzhen as of 01 April 2012.

At present, passengers going from Shenzhen North to Changsha South, Wuhan, or other destinations on the Wuhan-Guangzhou stretch of the Beijing-Hong Kong HSR are required to change trains at the Guangzhou South Railway Station. However, with effect from 01 April 2012, direct services between Wuhan and Changsha South to Shenzhen North will enter service. Of course, all trains will also call at Guangzhou South, but there will be no more requirements to change trains at the station.

There will be 10 pairs of trains from Wuhan to Shenzhen North (Trains G1001–G1006 and G1011–G1024). These depart Wuhan between 07:26 and 17:25, and will leave Shenzhen North from 07:00 to 18:01. 10 pairs of trains will run between Changsha South and Shenzhen North (Trains G6001–G020), which will run from 07:00 and 16:59 departing Shenzhen North, and 08:00 to 20:30 departing from Shenzhen North. Stops will be longer by about a minute at major stations.

Train numbers have also been slightly adjusted for other trains:

  • Wuhan–Guangzhou: G1101–G1180
  • Changsha South–Guangzhou South: G6101–G6128
  • Guangzhou South–Shenzhen North: G6201–G6262

The above take effect beginning 01 April 2012.

Update: Trains might run slightly slower in some parts of the line, probably to coincide with the opening of Yingde West Railway Station (which is slated to open soon).
